Our commitment
Matrimonial information is inherently personal. nri.wedding seeks to collect and use information only for legitimate purposes connected with providing, securing and improving the Service, subject to applicable law.
What we may collect
Depending on the features you use: account information, name, email, mobile number, date of birth, age, gender, location, nationality, citizenship, marital status, photographs, videos, education, occupation, employment, income range, family information, languages, interests, lifestyle preferences, dietary preferences, religious or cultural information you choose to provide, relationship preferences, marriage expectations, personality questionnaire answers, Compatibility Engine answers, communication preferences, device information, IP address, security logs, login information, payment transaction references, verification status, customer-support correspondence, reports concerning misuse, and other information you voluntarily supply.
Some information members may choose to provide could be considered particularly sensitive under laws applicable in certain jurisdictions, including religious beliefs, health-related information, ethnic or community information, relationship information and identity documents. We encourage members to provide only information that is reasonably necessary for their matrimonial purposes. Where applicable law requires additional or explicit consent for a category of information, we seek it separately.
What you should never publish
Do not put on your public profile: passport numbers, national identification numbers, Aadhaar numbers, Social Security numbers, bank-account numbers, credit-card information, passwords, OTP codes, precise residential addresses, confidential immigration document numbers, or anything else that could facilitate identity theft.
Why we process it
To create and maintain accounts; display matrimonial profiles; provide search; recommend matches; calculate compatibility; operate Compatibility Engine; enable communication; verify contact information; provide customer support; prevent fraud; detect misuse; protect members; process payments; maintain security; improve the Service; develop features; analyse platform performance; comply with legal obligations; respond to lawful governmental or judicial requests; and exercise or defend legal rights.
Profile visibility
Certain information may be visible to other registered members or, depending on settings, to visitors. Review the privacy settings carefully. Information placed into a visible profile should be treated as information another authorised viewer may read, remember, screenshot or otherwise record.
Privacy controls govern disclosure of telephone numbers, email addresses and similar contact information. You should not assume that another member needs your personal contact details immediately.
Compatibility Engine answers are private
We distinguish between the answers you supply, the characteristics derived from them, and the compatibility result shown to another member. Another member receives a compatibility result without receiving your underlying answers.
From questionnaire responses the Platform may infer characteristics such as family orientation, financial outlook, communication style, social preferences, religious orientation, conflict style, lifestyle compatibility or parenting preferences. Such derived information is used only to facilitate matchmaking.
Who we share it with
Other members see what you elect to make visible.
Service providers, for hosting, cloud infrastructure, email, SMS, communications, customer support, analytics, security, fraud prevention, identity verification, payment processing and technical maintenance, under contractual arrangements and applicable law.
Legal requirements: where reasonably necessary to comply with law, a court order, judicial process, a law-enforcement request, a regulatory obligation or other binding legal process, and where permitted by law to protect the rights, safety or security of nri.wedding, our members or others.
If the business is reorganised, merged, financed, acquired or sold, information may form part of the business assets transferred, subject to applicable privacy law and appropriate safeguards.
Crossing borders
nri.wedding is intended in part for Indians and persons of Indian origin living internationally, so a member in one country may interact with a member in another. Information may therefore be processed or accessed across national borders where permitted by applicable law and subject to appropriate safeguards.
Our servers are located in the United States. If you live in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, your personal information is transferred outside that area. We rely on the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses (and the UK International Data Transfer Addendum) with our hosting and service providers, together with the security measures described in this Policy. You may request a copy of the relevant clauses from hello@nri.wedding.
If you live in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland you have the rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability and objection, and the right to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority. Religion, community and health-related answers are special-category data under those laws and are processed only with your explicit consent, which you may withdraw from Privacy at any time.
If you live in India, the Digital Personal Data Protection Act 2023 applies. Our grievance officer is named in the Terms.
Users may have different legal rights depending on where they live. Where laws applicable to nri.wedding grant a user mandatory privacy rights, those rights are not waived by these Terms.
How long we keep it
We retain personal information for as long as reasonably necessary for providing an active account, completing transactions, security, fraud prevention, dispute resolution, regulatory compliance, legal claims and other legitimate purposes permitted by applicable law.
Account deletion may remove or anonymise information from normal user-facing systems, but certain information may remain temporarily in backups, security records, fraud-prevention systems, financial records or legal archives where retention is permitted or required.
Your rights
Where applicable law provides them, you may request access to or correction of your personal data. Most profile information can be changed directly in account settings, and your whole record can be exported as a file from the Privacy page.
You may request account deletion, subject to permitted or required retention. Deletion of an account does not necessarily require deletion of information we have a lawful obligation to retain.
Where processing depends on consent, you may withdraw it. Withdrawal does not invalidate processing lawfully conducted beforehand, and some features may cease to function.
Privacy requests and grievances: Grievance Officer, hello@nri.wedding, [registered address to be set]. Requests may require reasonable identity verification to protect member information from unauthorised disclosure.
Security
We use reasonable administrative, organisational and technical measures appropriate to the nature of the Service. However, no internet-connected system can be guaranteed completely secure, so we cannot promise that unauthorised access, malware, cyberattack, technical failure or data loss will never occur.
Members are responsible for the confidentiality of their login credentials. Do not share passwords or OTP codes. Report suspected unauthorised access promptly.
